COVID-19 death toll mounts to 53 with five more deaths



Five more COVID-19  related deaths were reported today surging the total COVID-19 deaths in Sri Lanka to 53, the Government Information Department said.

Four males aged 68, 69, 78, 64 and a female aged 83 were among the deceased.

Details of the victims 

1. A 83-year-old female, a resident of Colombo 14 was reported dead at her residence. The cause of death has been identified as COVID-19 infection with High Blood Pressure and Diabetes. 

2. A 68-year-old male from Chilaw died on admission to the Mulleriyawa Hospital, where he was identified as a Covid-19 patient after being transferred from the Chilaw District Hospital. The cause of death was ruled as COVID-19 infection with High Blood Pressure and Internal bleeding in the brain.

3. A 69-year-old male from Ratmalana who was pronounced dead of COVID-19 on admission to the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital for chest pain. The cause of death was ruled as High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, and COVID-19 related cardiac arrest.

4. A 78-year-old male, a resident of Colombo 13 died at his residence. The cause of death was identified as COVID-19 related cardiac arrest. 

5. A-64-year old male from Colombo 13 was also reported dead at his residence. The cause of death was ruled as COVID-19 infection. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
