Cassilingham challenges Jaffna candidates to declare no involvement in liquor licenses

Colombo, Oct 11 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Politburo member Geethanath Cassilingham, who is contesting the upcoming General Election from the Jaffna District, today challenged his co-candidates to prove they have never solicited or mediated liquor licenses.

Cassilingham said that he would issue an open affidavit to his district affirming that he has never solicited or mediated liquor licenses for himself or his associates.

" I never solicited or mediated an arrack license for myself, my family, relatives, friends, or anyone I know. I challenge my co-candidates in the Jaffna Electoral District, especially the former parliamentarians, to do the same,” Cassilingham said.

He said that the emergence of several liquor stores in the North in recent months has affected the livelihoods of daily wage earners and has posed a threat to the schools and children in those areas.
