Catholic Church refutes Maithripala’s allegations

The Catholic Church in Sri Lanka today refuted the claims made by former President Maithripala Sirisena that funds received from various sources to be given to the Easter Sunday bomb victims have not been disbursed to them.

National Director, Catholic Mass Communications Fr. Jude Krishantha who refuted the claim by MP Sirisena said the Church had already disbursed Rs. 500 million to the Easter Sunday bomb victims.

“We have disbursed these funds through 'Seth Sarana' the social service arm of the Sri Lankan Catholic Church. Jesus had said your left hand should not know what your right hand is doing. Therefore we do things secretly without publishing our acts,” he said

Sirisena earlier said the church should come up with a list of names of the Easter Sunday bomb victims to whom it had distributed funds to.

Jesus saying such as left hand should not know what your right hand is doing" is accurately followed when it comes to the matter of money involved, but the saying is neglected most of the situation, WHY?.

Since a huge amount of money is involved, it’s better to have 2 to 3 renowned Auditors to confirmed the disclosures. There is No need to publish names of recipients but these certified auditors can verify distributions were done fairly. If any recipients feel it’s unfairly done, few appointed lawyers by the government should handle the allegations and report their findings to court.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena's tenure has been widely criticized. Electing him as president of this country is considered one of the gravest mistakes the people have made and became the mother of all blunders that will go down in the history. President Maithripala was clueless about country's constitution and he became a joker amongst his subordinates. He was not at all suitable to hold such high office and he abused and betrayed the country and people at large during his tenure as president. Even after relinquishing the high office, he is continuing with his blunders. It is imperative that the judiciary takes swift action to hold him accountable before further damage is done.

Sira is ridiculing the financial accountability of the bankrupt Buddhist state by uttering this. He is trying valiantly to come out of his own (party’s) political misery. Having said that our Lord’s teaching in Mathew 6:3 is mainly about personal alms-giving. This teaching cannot be used to cover the controversial financial transactions of the Institute of Religious Works (Vatican Bank) after Vatican II council. Lack of transparency and accountability when building the Divine Mercy church at Kadolkale- Negombo caused grave problems and the alleged involvement of the top-level politicians who were in power to settle it. The Church had to allow this and lost credibility. When good priests criticize diabolical acts and decisions concerning faith, liturgy and modern sinful trends, Vatican hijackers cancel their priesthoods.
