Chicken stock destroyed at KFC outlet after ’buy one get one free’ sells rotten chicken
Colombo, Dec 19 (Daily Mirror) - A stock of chicken at the KFC Rajagiriya outlet was destroyed by the Public Health Inspectors following a complaint of the outlet selling spoiled chicken.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, area PHI Tharindu said they had received a complaint from one of the customers of a foul odor emanating from a bucket of chicken they were consuming.
“Subsequently, the PHIs rushed to the outlet and disposed a stock of chicken believed to be spoiled,” the PHI officer said.
However, the PHI said the sample of chicken has been directed to the Medical Research Institute for further investigations.
According to the PHI, it may take at least 10 days to release the results of the sample.

The PHI has checked and admits that the chicken was spoilt and destroyed. That means the Management goes Scot free. Cargills should be warned, and a heavy fine implemented, and all h bought the offer should be compensated.

Hopefully the KFC outlet will remain closed for a long time. I know from KFC Insiders that it is common practice at KFC to use expired chicken. For this purpose, the labels with the expiry data are changed. The head office sends the chickens with the correct labels, but the outlets change them because they are pressured by the head office not to have any waste. This was also discovered in Germany.

Check the spoilt veggies and fish sold by the supermarket chain that owns kfc. Probably the spoilt meat at there super markets are sent to kfc as I have seen the veggies and fish are in bad shape. The franchise owners should spend on food quality rather than putting kfc and super market branches like mushrooms. Also pay the managers well and train them well. Learn at least from the main super market competitor which does much better. Betterto avoid kfc and supermarket chain until quality is improved.

Buy-1 Get-1 is used to get rid of old stock by KFC. I have faced the same Mount Lavinia and Panadura KFC. Also, please visit Cargills Food City and see they are selling half-spoiled fruits and bakery items at low prices.

Most restaurants do not have proper storage infra-structure and equipment to store meat, seafood, dairy, yeast based frozen dough and bread, sauces/toppings, vegetables and fruits. The recent electricity breakdowns and voltage surges have affected the proper functioning of compressors in heavy duty freezers and cold rooms. It really is not easy to run food establishments given the the plight of this country and its lunatic governance in just about anything.

KFC is not no highly regarded fast food outlet in US and Canada. Only people who do not care what they eat, but only the price, eat at KFC. Fried chicken is bad for your health, especially the deep fried skin, which ironically happen to be the tasty part of KFC. The rest is like mush! The reason for re-branding Kentucky Fried Chicken to KFC of today. Food for the uneducated!

At a time when all food items are at a premium in SL, the riskiest food to consume are the animal products. Customers are less due to high prices. Therefore the sellers will apply 'special offers' like buy one get one free etc. on meat items fast decomposing. As for KFC, even in Germany they found live worms crawling on a takeaway. Normally, the items near sell by date are the ones selected for the restaurants within or without. Best option is to refrain from eating dodgy meat.
