Colombo , October 24 (Daily Mirror) - A Chief Inspector of Police attached to the Gampola HQI office was arrested by the officers of the Bribery Commission on charges of accepting Rs.20,000 as a bribe.
According to a complaint by a resident of Gampola, the Chief Inspector had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.20,000 from the complainant to pump fuel for the car and also travel expenses to go to the Bribery Commission on 25.10.2024 to give a statement related to an investigation by the Bribery Commission against the complainant.
Accordingly, the CI was arrested by the Bribery Commission at a restaurant in Gampola over the allegation of receiving bribes.
He is to be produced before the Gampola Magistrate's Court.
