Colombo, Sep 11 (Daily Mirror) - Over two kilos of Cocaine worth over Rs. 75 million sent from Colombia concealed in a courier package was seized by Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport today.
Customs Narcotic Control Officials stationed at the BIA Air Cargo Village detected a suspicious package sent through a private courier service.
Customs spokesman Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda said the consignment had been sent from Bogota in Colombia to an addressee in Ganemulla.
The officials took a wharf clerk and two men in their early twenties who had come to clear the parcel.
The package contained an electric grinding machine where they found the drugs carefully concealed within.
The Cocaine weighed 2 kilos and 139 grams with a street value of Rs. 35,000 a gram.
The seized narcotics along with the suspects were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) officials for further investigations.
