Kattankudy, Sep 1 (Daily Mirror) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that new legislation will be introduced to ensure that individuals can choose either burial or cremation based on their personal wishes.

During the "Puluwan Sri Lanka" victory rally in Kattankudy, President Wickremesinghe addressed the hardships faced by the Muslim community during the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly regarding the mandatory cremation policy imposed by the government.

The President expressed regret for the pain and suffering caused to Muslim families who were denied the right to bury their deceased according to their religious beliefs.

The President said that a special committee will be appointed to investigate into those responsible for the mandatory cremation and said that compensation will be provided to affected families.

And he should also appoint a committee to find out if the professionals and scientists involved gave proper scientific proofs which led to legalisation of cremation of those who refused it in this country during the covid era. The racism involved was visible to all.

Those who were responsible to give this wrong advise should be prosecuted. This type of forceful cremation was NOT undertaken in any other countries,This was pure racistic manoeuvre.

You did not utter a single word that time - Why Now. Try to give compensation to Muslim women and children who got affected due to the Indigenous Quazi system who take Rs 5000 as a bribe and give the decision to pay 20000 per month for expenses to maintain three children, house rental, food, health care, education and their welfare. ULMA and Muslim lawyers are all aware of this. Make a system to sue these people for why they have been silent for the last 30 years. Very soon, we will ask for compensation from Muslim leaders and religious leaders who did not act.

Let bygones be bygones since all these things happened during the Covid-19 Pandemic which was new to the world and by resuscitating memories the wounds get open for disharmony between communities. In the past we did not have this problem the survivors buried the dead according to the faith in a particular religion. Tracing back some of the politicians were shouting hoarse dry for cremation because there was a feeling that burial could result in dire consequences to the other citizens of this country because there were different opinions expressed for and against burial. At last it was only the Muslims/Catholics/Christians etc who could not fulfill their duty to their loved ones according to their Religion. In anything when Trust is at stake this is the outcome and there is no necessity of crying over spilt milk!!!!!!

He took up the presidency for taking the country out from the economic stagnation and have succeeded on it. Now given the promise is to investigate the forceful cremation. We can not deny his promise. Because during the time JVB might be advocate forceful cremation and others were silent. Hence Ranil Wickramasinghe is the best choice for us among the three candidates.

After so many days of cremations, suddenly our joker is going to initiate a probe. Most probably a commission would be appointed and their term will increased until the probe is closed. People are not must anymore to believe such rotting crap. Anyway you won't be there as president after 21st. Enjoy the last few days by uttering lies and deceptions.
