All arrangements have been made to pay the compensation for damages caused by floods, droughts and wild elephants during the Yala season before January 5, the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board said.
Damages caused to cultivations, including paddy, between March and October—along with damages from floods, droughts and wild elephants—have been given special consideration.
Accordingly, all compensation across all districts will be paid by January 5. Nearly Rs. 80 million has already been paid to 80 percent of the affected farmers.
The compensation will be credited directly to the respective bank accounts of the farmers.
Compensation related to the 2024/2025 Maha season will be paid starting in February.
