An extraordinary gazette notification was issued today, appointing Senior Prof. R.M.U.S.K. Rathnayaka as the Competent Authority of the University of Ruhuna, effective from tomorrow (25).

The gazette was issued by the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Harini Amarasuriya, citing that the administration of the University of Ruhuna has been seriously disrupted and that the authorities of the university have failed to restore conditions to normalcy.
