Complaint filed against Jaffna MP

November 22 - A group of civil society activists has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Dr. Archchuna Ramanathan, the newly elected independent MP for the Jaffna District.

The activists asked the CID to investigate remarks made by Dr. Ramanathan in a video he posted on Facebook, which has sparked controversy.

The video, which went viral on social media on November 21, showed the MP sitting in the seat reserved for the Leader of the Opposition during the first session of the 10th Parliament. Despite being asked repeatedly by parliamentary staff to vacate the seat, he refused to move.

Please don’t make a fool out of this story without knowing the facts. I think the 1st day was okay for everyone to sit wherever they wanted to sit. You are making Dr a famous person by reporting this story

Best is do not give unnecessary publicity, he seems a person looking for more attention, but his action in parliament is acceptable and his refusal also allowable as parliament staff did not reserve it for particular parliamentarian, so place is rightfully his for that day, its unnecessary request from parliament’s staff side to return this chair to opposition leader, and I feel SP didn’t make much fuss on it ,but during his father’s presidency there was big controversy over especially made throne like chair used in special occasions, now everybody knows attitudes and behavior of Dr Aarjuna, so people certainly not much serious on him,it seems he is not a lovable character as Mr.Shanakiyan Rasamanickan of TNA,who equally respected by all SriLankans

Dr. Archchuna is a revolution, new wave, please let him be active in the political circles. We need change, he is someone clever and thinks out of the box.
