Container truck driver found dead at Port Customs gate queue

Colombo, September 2 (Daily Mirror) - The Foreshore Police launched an investigation after the driver of a container truck, who had been waiting in a queue at the Customs exit gate since yesterday, was found dead inside his vehicle this evening within the port premises.

According to police, the driver, believed to be between 60 and 65 years old, was pronounced dead when being admitted to the National Hospital, Colombo. They suspect he may have died due to a cardiac arrest.

People are very unhealthy. In Sri Lankan culture everything is centered around unhealthy food and drinking. No routine annual doctor's visits for preventive care. Only go to the doctor for treatment and check ups once a disease is diagnosed. No exercise and no other outlet for releasing stress. For hydration the drink of choice is sugar filled fizzy drinks rather than water to stay cool. Look at any photo of Sri Lankans and you will see an unhealthy, unfit lifestyle regardless of income bracket and social class.

To avoid, please ask the shippers to book on time and give a number and exact time to come to the gate without waiting in the queue for many days / long hours. Even to Passport issuing please follow this because today 03rd Sept I saw 1000s of men, women with kids were standing in queue from passport office upto Udumulla Road in heavy rain from last night.
