Crocodile threat looms at Wellawatte beach !

Colombo, Jan. 29 (Daily Mirror)- Those who visit Wellawatte beach have been adviced to be vigilant after a crocodile was spotted in the sea recently.

A warning sign was seen on the beach asking people to be vigilant.

People are visiting the beach in numbers due to the school holidays according to police.

Police life savers have been deployed to face any emergency situation.

You need to get the crocodile out of the sea ASAP before its too bloody late get the navy and air force to spot the fellow by air and sea .get all water ways installed with metal nets to stop plastic polytine and all other crap going to sea wellawatta dehiwala mt lavinia among the dirty filty water and full of rubish flows to the sea everyday government must take some intuitive to protect the sea our beautitful beaches been polluted by throwing all kind of crap environmental protection must be introduced to protect the ocean even the fish will have toxic by eating plastic polytine etc someone need to investigate and put a stop very sad our beautitful beaches will be distroyed soon. Only solution to protect install net's and who ever throwing Rubbish must be punished dont let this terrible fellows ruined our beautitful beaches its so important to all..

Good old people used to say that Crocodile cannot be found in salt water! Either Wellawatte beach produces sweet water or this could be another animal anyway, worse comes to worst our good old people are wrong. Worth a clarification soon from those best in zoology! Not our politicians please!

There are crocs already in Polhena and Arugambay. It is called the "saltwater" crocodile for a reason.

Oh Oh!! They are back again...Make sure our people and the tourist , the foreign exchange earner are safe. One fatal attack will spark and make people visiting SL think twice before buying air tickets where Crocs roam the beach instead of life guards

Salt water crocodiles are one the largest species and an apex predator. Good luck in catching and relocating the croc.

All happening according to a plan. Before privatising the beach and the adjoining sea for filling, they want to reduce the public usage of the beach. Then there will be lesser opposition for privatisation.

The wild animals collective recently has had a meeting and came to the same consensus as the comments here! Why don’t we catch the humans who encroach in our reserves and send them far away to their land away from forest reserves and sanctuaries? All wild animals have anonymously seconded the resolution!

There can be salt water crocodiles but not in SL from what Iam aware but coming back to the crocodile spotted in Wellawatte Iam told crocodiles were released into the Diyawanna around parliament some time ago. If this is correct could it be that a croc has found its way through the canal system.The experts are there to investigate this is just a comment
