Customs seize Rs. 212Mn worth Hashish sent from Italy



Colombo, August 23 (Daily Mirror) -  A large quantity of the cannabis variety Hashish worth over Rs. 212 million, which had been sent from Italy through a courier service, was seized by the Sri Lanka Customs today. 

The Customs Revenue Task Force (RTF) on suspicion searched a package that had arrived at a courier service in Colombo and found over 30 kilos of Hashish in it. 

Customs Spokesman Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda said the narcotics parcel had been consigned to an address in the Matugama area. 

The seized drugs along with a suspect had been handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
