Colombo, October 05 (Daily Mirror)- DIG Dhammika Priyantha has been appointed as the new Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS).

He was appointed after the retirement of Retired Major General Suresh Sallay.

This is election time but the vacancy that arose must be filled. People found fault with RW for not appointing acting IG when the SC made the direction. I believe the government has done the right thing

This is a retirement. It doesn't violate election law to appoint someone. Replacement is illegal until the election is over. Thank you Suresh for years of service. It couldn't have been easy.
