Colombo, Jan 31 (Daily Mirror) - Yohan Perera, the News Editor of the Daily Mirror, sustained injuries yesterday during the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) protest when he was struck by a tear gas canister.

The demonstration took place in front of the Viharamadevi Park and the police, in accordance with a court order, blocked the road, restricting the protestors from exceeding their designated limits.

Yohan Perera was injured while covering the ongoing protest.

Police…thou should not mess with People of the Fourth State ( Free Media) . Are we all living in a police state where freedom of assembly, freedom of movement and free speech are treated with batons and tear gas attacks?

Daily mirror should equip their staff covering these events with some kind of a head gear like the one worn by the police and also a guard to ensure the gas is not inhaled from thrown tear gas canisters. Prevention is better than cure. Wishing yohan speedy recovery!!!!!

The prime cause of the economic crisis is the robbery of the treasury dollars in February 2020.Why not do an extensive audit of the central bank and its finance division staff should be taken to task at least if elected to power. Can we get an assurance that the above would be initiated prior to the SJB PROTESTS

The Courts of Sri Lanka had given a Courts' Orders preventing the Procession on Roads that cause inconvenience to Public . The SJB had publicly stated that they will not care these Orders and would make protest march like in anarchy as anarchists. So how can ordinary people accept this type of conduct when the people are suffering daily by conducts of protest march on week days by politicians, Tradeunions. SJB could have all the possibilities of conducting protest on weekends or at public grounds. Why did they did this undemocratic protest calling parallel to Aragalaya did in 2022 which had many people's liking
