Debate on Channel 4 useless exercise: Catholic Church
The two-day debate on Channel 4 which is to begin in Parliament today will be a useless exercise if a fresh independent probe under the supervision of foreign experts does not follow, the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka said.
"There is no reason as to why a fresh probe with the supervision of foreign experts cannot follow the two-day debate," a member of the Church Communications Unit, Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando told a media briefing.
"Having another debate in Parliament will not help find the real perpetrators," he added.
Fr. Fernando also said the presentation made to MPs on the Easter Sunday bomb attacks was not a useful exercise either, as it was made by the police officer who was charged with hiding evidence on the killing of journalist Lasantha Wickramatunga. (Yohan Perera)
