Debate on President’s policy statement on May 10

Party leaders today decided to hold a one-day debate on May 10 on the policy statement to be made by President Maithripala Sirisena at the inaugural parliamentary session on May 8, an official said today

JO parliamentary group leader MP Dinesh Gunawardane told Daily Mirror that they sought a debate on the policy statement.

The party leaders met today to discuss the parliamentary businesses scheduled for May 8. (Kelum Bandara)

19th amendment is a wonderful success in maintaining stabilty in Govt and country and in not allowing President to use dictatorial powers and ldestabilise elected Govt, and in ensuring smooth continuation of majority elected Govt for stipulated period,this success achieved in the face of anti Govt media using all its publicity trying to discredit elected Govt and so trying to destabilise Govt.and the no confidence motion brought by JO which couldn't tople majority elected Govt.
