Doctors must explain gaps in Jackson’s health: Somaratne Dissanayake

'The accident was terrible, but we knew that it was not fatal. The cause of the death of veteran Sri Lankan movie actor Jackson Anthony should be explained to us by the doctors', Sri Lankan film director, screenwriter and producer Somaratne Dissanayake said.

Addressing the media at the funeral parlor in Colombo, he said that Jackson talked to them after his main surgery. He had to get into this kind of predicament and die due to unknown facts, and the doctors should explain the cause of his death.

However, everything happens to the unfortunate people and the country. Jackson is a person who was valuable not only to Sri Lanka but to the entire world.

"Soon after the accident, I was there in several minutes. The recordings of that day were very successful, and Jackson was very happy with the recordings, and that should be celebrated. Then I told him to go to the hotel. Because Jackson was the main character of the movie, I assigned him a separate vehicle and a driver. But he has a habit of driving his own double-cab. He never uses other vehicles or drivers. I came several vehicles back after finishing my work," Dissanayake said.

"On the way to the hotel, I saw huge vehicle traffic and saw Jackson's vehicle had met with an accident and without the roof. I took Jackson to the Anuradhapura hospital in my vehicle. After the recommendation of the doctors, Jackson was transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo (CNH).

"After the main surgery, Jackson talked to us. After that, he was lying on the bed unconsciously. There are gaps we still cannot understand, and the doctors must explain that to us," Dissanayake said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
