Doctors urge parents to supervise children amid surge in fireworks

Colombo,December 30 (Daily Mirror) -Health authorities are urging parents to exercise extra caution with their children, especially when handling firecrackers, due to a noticeable increase in firework-related injuries.

Dr. Deepal Perera, a specialist at Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital, spoke with the Daily Mirror, stressing the importance of preventing intoxicated parents from driving to avoid potential accidents.

Reports indicate a rise in motor accidents, domestic incidents and alcohol-related accidents. Authorities emphasize the need for heightened awareness and the implementation of safety measures to prevent such incidents.

Furthermore, Dr. Perera highlighted the importance of preventing children from swimming in dangerous areas, such as rivers and seas, to avoid potential accidents.
