Dr. Archchuna’s eligibility for Parliamentary seat challenged

Colombo, December 16 (Daily Mirror) - A writ petition has been filed before the Court of Appeal seeking an order declaring that Jaffna District Parliamentarian Dr. Ramanathan Archchuna is disqualified to be a Member of Parliament and is thus not entitled to hold office as a MP.

Social activist Oshala Herath filed this petition seeking an order in the nature of a Writ of Quo Warranto declaring that Dr. Ramanathan Archchuna is disqualified to be a Member of Parliament.

The petitioner stated that Dr. Ramanathan Archchuna is a public officer attached to the Ministry of Health and, therefore, as a public officer, he has a contract with the state.

The Court of Appeal two-judge-bench comprising Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Mahen Gopallawa fixed the matter for hearing on January 15, 2025.

Wasting of court time. He was suspended from duties when he ran for election which he already mentioned.

If he has already resigned or applied to get his resignation letter approved by health ministers prior to contesting the election he is fine if not ; he is in a trouble : he has been making trouble and all troubles comes to him now
