Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy appointed as CB Governor

President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy as the Governor of Central Bank, President's Media Division announced.

The decision has been taken following a discussion with the President and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Dr. Coomaraswamy is to assume duties next Monday.

Indrajit was at Central Bank from 1974-1989 and Commonwelth Secretariat from 1990-2010 an then director of JKH and other companies in Si LLanka. So he did not work at Galleon.

To advise on financial performance and the state of the economy is very respectable work and the fraudsters are those like Raj who bought and sold stocks using insider information.To accuse Indrajith on his work only shows your ignorance of this matter

This is the best appointment we have made in a long time. He is not only suitable for the post but also knowledgeable in both local and international economic affairs. He also brings in tons of integrity with him. With his track record in Commonwealth, all the agencies such as World Bank and IMF will respect him. I believe he captained the cricket teams of both Eaton and Cambridge, and then CR so he is a good sportsman as well. I am a professional who has a lot of dealings with Central Bank and will be proud to have him as the head of the Central Bank.

Suddenly Arjun mahendran seems better. Dr. Coomaraswamys last appointment was at Galleon group for something like 10 years. It was diisolved after it was found to be the center of hedge fund scam in USA, of which the CEO was Raj Rajarathnam. Who btw is spending the rest of his life in an american prison. The same Raj Rajarathnam who financed LTTE to buy stinger missiles. Shame onnyou Mr. President.
