Drunken train driver suspended, department level investigations launched



Colombo, July 1 (Daily Mirror) - The Railways Department has suspended the services of the driver of a Colombo to Kandy train (No. 1019) and initiated an investigation at Departmental level.

The driver was reportedly intoxicated and agitated, had abruptly stopped the train at Suduhumpola near Kandy city, and fled the scene.

The incident was reported to the General Manager of Railways by the passengers. 

The incident had left passengers on the Colombo-Kandy train concerned.
