Karapitiya Dec 9 (Daily Mirror) - A mound of earth collapsed at a construction site near the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, killing one worker and injuring two others.

The incident occurred earlier today.

A search and rescue operation was carried out following the mishap resulting two being rescued and one succumbing to the injuries.

The injured have been rushed to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported a loud rumbling noise followed by a cloud of dust as the mound suddenly gave way, burying the workers at the site.
