June 27 - At least eight houses were razed to the ground by a massive landslide at Getahetta at Uduwana in Eheliyagoda this afternoon.

Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretary S.A. Dilruk said the affected area had developed the signs of the imminent danger of land slide from morning and that were taken to evacuate 43 families from the area and provide them shelter and urgent relief at  Siddhartha Vidyalaya Udawana.

The Divisional Secretary said the Getahethi oya in the low-lying area of the location of the landslide has been obstructed with earth creating a flood threat.
