Election complaints surge to 1,500 in month ahead of Presidential poll



Colombo,Sep 1 (Daily Mirror) - A total of 112 new complaints related to the upcoming Presidential election have been received, bringing the overall number of complaints to 1,592, according to the Election Commission. 

These complaints were filed between July 31 and August 31.

Out of the total complaints, the National Centre for Election Complaint Management received 645, while the District Centres for Election Complaint Management recorded 947 cases. 

All complaints were categorised as breaches of election laws, with eight incidents of violence reported among them.
