Elections Commission obtains weather report for the next few days

Colombo, September 18 (Daily Mirror)- The Elections Commission has obtained a complete weather report from the Meteorology Department regarding the country's weather situation for the next few days, Chairman of the Elections Commission R.A.M.L Ratnayake said today.

He said a weather report was obtained to take action to prevent any obstacle to the presidential election if an adverse weather condition occurred and to take precautionary measures.

He said in addition to that, weather report will be obtained every three hours from Friday (20).

The Elections Commission has also given instructions to District Returning Officers to be prepared to prevent any obstacle to the elections due to bad weather and disasters.

The Elections Commission has also instructed the navy to keep canoes and boats stand-by in case of a flood situation.
