Enhanced security measures for New Year celebrations

Colombo, Dec 31 (Daily Mirror)- In anticipation of increased public participation in religious ceremonies, musical events, carnivals etc. during the New Year 2024 celebrations, police have implemented special security and traffic measures.

The Acting Inspector General of Police has issued directives to senior police officers and police OICs to develop a comprehensive security programme ensuring the safety of participants. Additionally, traffic officers will be deployed to manage potential traffic congestion effectively.

Specific instructions have been given to mobilize the Police Special Task Force officers and Tri-Firces personnel promptly if their assistance is required to maintain order and security.

The Police also urged the public to avoid activities such as drunken driving, over-speeding and reckless driving, which contribute towards road accidents.

The ministry of tourism thinks by spending money and making a big scene in Galle Face Green means he is doing a good job of the ministry. He does not know if he is coming or going. Utter waste of money.
