Ex-’Maco’ upbeat on revival of Sri Lanka cricket

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Referring to the current fate of Sri Lanka cricket, former chairman of the Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya said he is confident that the Sri Lanka cricket team will bounce back.

Responding to reporters, Deshapriya said Sri Lanka cricket is not on the brink of collapse as there is a temporary issue of consistency and unity.

“The team that is under par at the World Cup was the team that won last year’s Asia Cup and became the runners-up at the recent Asia Cup. Hence, several issues need to be looked into and rectified by the administrators and coaches,” the former EC Chairman underscored.

“Of course, it will take some time; however, we should not look down on our players but should encourage them regardless of the result of the matches,” he added.
