Executive Presidency should be changed even if Sajith wins: Eran

Colombo, July 17 (Daily Mirror) - The present system of governance which is based on the Executive Presidency should be changed even if Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa emerges victorious at this year's Executive Presidency, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Eran Wickramaratne said today.

MP Wickramaratne came up with this remark in response to a question raised by journalists at a media briefing as to whether the SJB will scrap the Executive Presidency if its leader emerges victorious at this year's Presidential election.

"All political parties have agreed that the Presidential system of governance should be done away with. Therefore, this system has to be changed," he said.

When Ranil took over from Gota, he said that he will do away with the executive president... all the politicians play a ball game to stay in power...

Eran, let me say one thing very clear there is no way voters will support Sajith Premadasa at the next President election. He hasn't got the talent. Talking is easy , Ranil will win the election as long as SLPP don't back him. So my choice is Anura. He has talent. He is untested and we all should support him

AKD looks fine but their track record is the issue as their activities have resulted in billions of dollars of economic damage far exceeding what was alleged to have been stolen by Ranil's and Rajapaksha supporters. But in case of Rajapakshas, there was tangible assets , ending the war, Hambantota harbour, Mattala Air Port, Highways, other infrastructure, etc,etc, in case of Ranil, the money was stolen but there were no assets . In case of AKD , the assets were destroyed , productivity declined, potential opportunities disappeared, youth got derailed ,etc. So make your choice wisely.

@Lokku Suthan - You are comparing Anura with Sajith and saying that Sajith does not have talent. Now tell us whether the Election is for a Talent Contest for BIG TALKERS OR ACTION ORIENTED. Look at the past when Gota was catapulted to President by 6.9mn he too was a BIG TALKER SAYING that his WORD IS MY BOND. His reign was a disaster since he did not have the knowledge and competencies to run a country. Look at Anura he does not have any Charisma even among leaders of giant countries since he is new intern and even he has failed to do small things to be rewarded to do big things. Whilst Sajith is an action oriented person who is miles apart whilst being in opposition has done something for the public at large. Do not misconstrue large gatherings because the public are disgusted with veteran politicians who have robbed the public purse and brought this country to bankruptcy. So don't get carried away that Anura can deliver the goods.! It seems Anura is a twin of Gota !!!!!
