Colombo , September 30 (Daily Mirror)  - The Meteorology Department has issued a warning for heavy showers exceeding 100 mm for several areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-Western Provinces. 

In addition, the Southern Province, along with the Batticaloa and Ampara districts, is expected to experience several spells of rain throughout the day.

Thundershowers are also forecast across the island, particularly in the afternoon and at night. 

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate risks associated with temporary localised strong winds and lightning during these events.
