Fees for NIC related services upped

The government issued a gazette notice yesterday announcing new fee structure for national identity card (NIC) and related services.

Accordingly, the cost for issuing a certified copy of a national identity card has been set at a fixed rate of Rs.1,000.

Additionally, the fees for certifying the authenticity of particulars associated with a national identity card have been updated. Online submissions now incur a charge of Rs. 25, while physical requests, subject to approval by the Commissioner-General, come at a cost of Rs. 500.

The notice claims that these amendments aim to simplify the registration process and enhance accessibility for the public.

The updated regulations can be accessed via the official Sri Lankan government website at www.documents.gov.lk. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
