Filipino woman arrested at BIA with cocaine worth Rs. 200 Mn

BIA, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - A 47-year old Filipino woman was arrested at the Katunayake International Airport for attempting to smuggle over 2 kgs of cocaine worth Rs. 200 million into Sri Lanka.

Airport Customs officers of the Narcotics Control Unit arrested the suspect who had smuggled the stock of cocaine from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Customs said she attempted to smuggle three parcels of cocaine weighing over 2 kgs by concealing it in her luggagge with three parcels containing chilli powder, turmeric powder and wheat flour.

To smuggle this stock of cocain into Sri Lanka the woman had reportedly been offered USD 1,000, air tickets and hotel accommodation to stay in Sri Lanka for five days.
