Finance Ministry ready to allocate money for election as per requirements



Colombo, July 17 (Daily Mirror)-  Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya informed the Election Commission that the Finance Ministry has the ability to allocate money for the upcoming Presidential election.

He also said that the Ministry is ready to provide the funds for the election according to the requirements.

A sum of Rs. 10 billion has been allocated by the 2024 budget as expenses for any kind of election to be held in the country.

"There is no obstacle in providing the funds as the government is working with strict financial management," the Minister said.

The Ministry is ready to release funds for the postal, printing and security measures as the preliminary expenses. Later, the remaining funds will be released as required for the expenses of the election, officials said.

Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena and other senior officials held a discussion with the Election Commission this morning on many issues including the allocation of funds for the upcoming Presidential election.
