A fire had broken out at a building belonging to the Eppawala phosphate factory early this morning, Police said.

They said a section of an office building of the factory has been destroyed due to the fire and the Anuradhapura fire brigade team had doused the fire with the assistance of residents in the area.

Police are yet to determine the cause of the fire.
