Taxes are levied for Government Spending. If not, how can a govt spend on Infrastructure development, police salaries, armed forces salaries, hospitals, education etc. Go and see the TAX RATES in affluent countries ....

Clearly shows the mentality of the people! The country is still Bankrupt due to the mismanagement of the so called politicians past and present. Ranil and his team just managed to prolong the payments of these loans and people are over the moon. Now more interest payments are due to this non payments. Hope the message is broadcasted correctly and clearly by other political platforms to the masses. Nothing to be jubilant about but actually shameful to used borrowed money to lead a luxurious lifestyle these so called politicians.

A weak cover up speech, all the fireworks in the country nor the hoards of posters about non existing `good news` will no longer fool the voters who are in real dire straits and also facing excessive taxation. This is just an old UNP/Pohottuwa style tactic packaged using stolen money.
