First Omicron patient identified in Sri Lanka

The first patient carrying the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 has been identified in Sri Lanka, the Health Ministry said today.

The new variant has been identified in a Sri Lankan citizen who had recently returned from a South Africa.

The Daily Mirror learns that he had arrived in Sri Lanka a few days ago and had been detected in the gene sequencing.

The Health Ministry has urged people not to panic as all preventive measures were being taken to prevent a spread. (JAMILA HUSAIN)

From another news site the person has arrived on 23rd nov and detected on 3rd dec. What measures were taken to authorities are to be confident?was the individual taken to quarantine straight from airport pending test results? Highly unlikely isnt it? I wish these reports give more details as citizens can feel confident on any measures taken.

Why was he allowed to enter Sri Lanka when passengers form South Africa was band from entering Sri Lanka? Was he in quarantine when it was detected the he was infected with the Omicron variant ? The news is sketchy and fishy. A invisible hand behind this !
