First train derailment of the year reported

Nawalapitiya, Jan 05 (Daily Mirror) - The Nawalapitiya Railway Control Room reported that a train travelling from Badulla to Colombo derailed near the Great Western and Nanu Oya railway stations today (05).

As a result of this incident, the Udarata Menike train, which was en route from Colombo to Badulla, has been halted in the vicinity of the Nanu Oya railway station

In addition, the Railway Control Room has informed that all other trains scheduled to operate on the upland route will experience delays.
