Fishing communities urged to watch out for rising swell wave heights

Colombo, May 3 (Daily Mirror) - The naval and fishing communities involved in activities from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota are advised to remain vigilant as swell wave heights and periods may rise in the sea areas, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre said.

They said the swell waves may go up to 3m height in between 12s and 16s wave period.

However, there is a possibility that near shore sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to
Matara via Colombo and Galle, may experience surges due to swell waves.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and
Hambantota can be rough at times.
