The National People's Power (NPP) secured five seats in the Nuwara Eliya district, having accounted for more than 40% of the total valid votes. 

The NPP received 161,167 votes, ahead of the 101,589 votes cast for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (26.21%). 

The United National party (UNP) won the remaining seat, having received 64,672 votes.
