Colombo, August 17 (Daily Mirror)- The Irrigation Department warned of a possible flood situation in low-lying areas of the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga valleys in Bulathsinhala Madurawala and Palinda Nuwara within the next 48 hours.

Considerable rainfall has occurred in the upstream catchment areas of the Kuda Ganga sub basin of the Kalu Ganga as of 9.00 pm yesterday.

The Department said there is a high possibility of roads running through the flood plains of the Kuda Ganga and Magura Ganga being inundated.

The residents of these low-lying area and vehicles running through flood plains of Kuda Ganga and Magura Ganga are requested to pay high attention in this regard. 

According to the Irrigation Department the warning is valid till 9.00 am today to August 19, 2024.
