Former Batticaloa MP P. Ariyanethran named common Tamil candidate

Colombo, August 08 (Daily Mirror) - A collective of Tamil parties has nominated former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP for the Batticaloa district, P. Ariyanethran, as the common Tamil candidate to contest the presidential election, former MP M.K. Sivajilingam said.

The parties involved in his nomination are the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), Tamil National Liberation Organization (TELO), Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF), the Tamil National Party (formed by former LTTE combatants), and Tamil Makkal Kootany.

However, a section of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) will not back him.
