Former MP Kumara Welgama passes away

Colombo, Sep 28 (Daily Mirror) - Former Kalutara districtMP and Minister Kumara Welgama passed away at the age of 74.

He passed away while receiving treatment in a private hospital in Colombo.

Since 2020, he has been the leader of the New Lanka Freedom Party and contested elections with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. Welgama was the chief organiser for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the Agalawatte electorate between 1984 and 2000. Welgamaa was the Minister of Industrial Development from 2007 to 2010 and the Minister of Transport from 2010 to early 2015 in governments led by the SLFP.

Rest In Peace , He may be suffered anxiety after commencing the current system change programs by the NPP government. When basal ganglia ( BG ) in human brain involved with integrating thoughts ,emotions and movement people struggle with generalized anxiety ,dislike uncertainty . In the case of some politicians in Sri Lanka who didn't wish a system change will be facing such anxiety , and few politicians , especially older politicos may follow the ultimate path .

l knowing him since my younger days and he too young down living in Manning Place , Wellawatte, parking lots of Mercedes Benz lorries down the road near house named Wegama and sons , I remembered the past , since that time he is simple friendly ,fun loving ,easy going happy life and religious . I feel so sad and shocked, when I see this news. Attain Nirwana.

May his soul RIP. A genial personality who fought tirelessly for social justice and the upliftment of the marginalised in Sri Lanka. A man of integrity and discipline. I used to listened to his speeches in Parliament, and always welcomed his commitment to the work assigned to him. I condole with all his family members at this great loss to them. Victor Rutnam
