Kalutara, Jan 03 (Daily Mirror) - A former Millaniya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) member, Ravindra Nawamuni, has been arrested for sharing a post on social media that insulted National Peoples’ Power (NPP) MP Nilanthi Kottahachchi.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Nawamuni at his residence in Batagoda this morning.

The arrest follows a complaint filed with the CID about misinformation circulating on social media about MP Kottahachchi.

The complaint, filed by Attorney-at-Law Namal Rajapakshe on behalf of MP Kottahachchi alleged that an SLPP activist was spreading false information targetting the reputation of the female MP, making false claims that she had visited a hotel with him for money.
