Former President Sirisena departs for US

Feb 12 - Former President Maithripala Sirisena left for the United States via India this morning on a special visit.

Sirisena's itinerary included a stop in New Delhi, India, where he boarded the AI-284 flight operated by Indian Airlines at 02:50 am today. From New Delhi, he will proceed to New York, USA, on another connecting flight.

Accompanying Sirisena are two officials from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, as disclosed by party sources.

@AIA. Don't talk through your hat. All those who shun English language still want everything else the English left behind; troucers, shirts, roads, railway, postal system too many to list. And continue to embrace and adopt to western ways of comforts; fridges, TV, airconditioners, planes, defence machinery and many more. For such things you are ready to lick the west. English is a big deal; without it, the language and the technology, you wouldn't have been able to post your comment here. Why don't you go back to your traditional attires and bullock carts?
