Colombo, June 30 (Daily Mirror) - Veteran Tamil politician and parliamentarian R. Sampanthan passed away at a private hospital in Colombo today evening, aged 91.

Sampanthan was one of the longest serving MPs with decades of experience and served as the Leader of the Tamil National Alliance for several years.

He trusted all the presidents after 2009 and convinced the Tamil the same but passing away as another Tamil politician who couldn’t secure any deal for the minorities but seen the country bankrupted at the end.

One of Great Gentle man of all times. In 1977 Trincomalie riots he had rendered his service to the community who had been dispersed, victims of the riots by proving all assistance and personally attended the patient who were affected in the riots ,provided all assitance ,and shelter . As the time pass by he has sacrificed all the wealth for the community services . In parliament he had constantly voiced for the minority community . He had been engaged in politics not for his personnel gains but for the people. Yet another person of his caliber to be born in Sri Lanka. My family and I convey my heartfelt condolences t his family .Surely he will have place in heaven. Are they any politician of the present times would render such a yeoman Services ?
