Four Covid vaccines effective in reducing deaths against Delta variant: Bahrain Study

The four Covid-19 vaccines - Sinopharm, Pfizer, AstraZeneca-Covishield and Sputnic V were effective in reducing deaths in vaccinated people when compared to unvaccinated people prior to and during the period when the Delta variant became dominant in Bahrain, a Bahraini research has revealed.

The Bahraini research on the efficacy of the four vaccines revealed that the mortality rate of people over 50-years of age, who had not received any of the Covid-19 vaccines was 8.1-fold higher when compared to Sinopharm vaccine recipients while no deaths has been reported when compared to Pfizer, AstraZeneca-Covishield and Sputnic V vaccine recipients.

The research revealed that the percentage of deaths among all COVID-19 cases in unvaccinated people below 50 years of age was 3.8-fold higher when compared to the recipient of Sinopharm vaccine.

The research further said that the percentage of deaths among Covid infected people who received Sinopharm vaccine was 0.46% (i.e, 112 deaths)and percentage of deaths among Covid infected people who received Pfizer/BioNtech was 0.46% (i.e, 112 deaths) while percentage of deaths among Covid infected people who received AstraZeneca-Covishield vaccine was 0.03% ((1 death)

It further said that Sinopharm appears to be less effective than Pfizer in older individuals, based on data from the study from Bahrain.
