Fuel prices revised; Octane 95, Super Diesel prices to be slashed

Colombo, October 31 (Daily Mirror) - Ceypetco has revised its fuel prices, effective from midnight today (October 31).

Accordingly, the price of Petrol Octane 95 will be reduced by Rs. 6 to Rs. 371, while Super Diesel will also see a reduction of Rs. 6, bringing its new price to Rs. 313.

Meanwhile, the prices of Octane 92, Auto Diesel, and Kerosene will remain unchanged.

Oil prices are up in the world market due to increased risk of middle east conflict. As such , this reduction is not economically viable, but the intention appear to be to buy some votes for NPP. Who will pay for the deficit for this?

His Excellency the President used to say fuel prices are high due to corruption and commissions paid to politicians and officials, however now it seems even after blocking all such unscrupulous activities as pointed out by H E. Comrade Dasanayaka after presidency still fuel cannot be given at Rs. 160/l. Conclusion either No 1 H E. Comrade was lying about corruption at high places. No 2 Corruption continues unabated for all fuel types except for higher grades. No. 3. Comrade very successfully deceived the gullible public to come to power. What exactly the reason? ????

This clearly shows that NPP does not want to win the next parliamentary election. They have got fedup already within one month. They want to become the main opposition. Even at PE, they did not want to win but it was majority of pohottuwas that wanted a new leader after Gota was kicked out and they choose Anura as ther new leader and now Anura is in big trouble. lol

People to be comfortable dollar should be brought down to Rs.150 and all fuel prices should be below Ra.120 per liter otherwise the suffering People are facing now will continue, can the government achieve this is a big question,.

What happened to the promises made where fuel prices can be reduced by a significant amount? Did you finally see the books and realise that a bloated and inefficient public service, and generational debt our SOEs have? Essentially you have lied and misinformed voters before Presidential Election. This type of populist politics is exactly the reason for the downfall of our country. Hope our citizens realise this and refrain from giving your party 2/3 majority instead ensure that there is both a strong government and opposition for correct decisions to be supported.

Once again it is a proof for what Ranil was doing as the president. NPP cheated the public and all inexperienced people are now holding the power. Hope people have already realised that they were taken for a ride and vote for Ranil's team under a new PM and take the country forward. If they fail one more disaster may be on the cards.

At present due to conflict in the middle east and else where World Fuel price has been effected . However the Sri Lankan government able to reduce some burden of Sri Lankan public while lowering fuel prices . The government able to do this after investigating how much corruption involved in pricing FUEL in Sri Lanka due to various commission involved in fuel importation by the previous government and the previous energy Minister . This is a another example of investigation corruption and bringing down cost of living step by step for the general Public . in the future many such reduction of FUEL as well as other commodities could be expected since still more deep investigation continuing in the country .

Fuel prices depend on the rupee depreciation (From 150/- to 300/-)and world market crude oil price. The pricing formula should be accepted and we could expect a further reduction once our economy improves.
