Funeral parlour receives threat over Club Wasantha’s remains: Security boosted

Colombo, July 12 (Daily Mirror) - Security has been bolstered at a prominent funeral parlour in Colombo, where the remains of Surendra Wasantha Perera alias 'Club Wasantha,' lie.

This move reportedly comes in response to an unverified telephone call about a potential threat to the parlour's premises for allowing the remains of Club Wasantha to be kept.

Meanwhile, special checkpoints have been established across Mannar in response to intelligence reports that the suspects involved in the Athurugiriya shooting may attempt to escape to India via fishing boats.

Authorities have alerted airports and other key points to prevent the suspects from leaving the country. However, multiple special checkposts and roadblocks have been set up due to the heightened risk of escape through Mannar.
Law enforcement authorities are closely monitoring individuals boarding fishing boats from Mannar, particularly those without valid fishing ID cards, to prevent any unauthorized sea travel.
