Colombo, October 02 (Daily Mirror)- A future Samagi Jana Sandanaya (SJS) government will cooperate with incumbent President Anura Kmara Dissanayake in the event it secures a majority in Parliament at the General elections, its leaders said today.
SJS leaders Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Kabir Hashim, Mano Ganesan, Dayasiri Jayasekera and Dullas Alahapperuma told the media that if a government led by them comes to power it will cooperate with the incumbent President.
“We will not jeopardise the work carried out by Dissanayake,” all the leaders told the media today.
“People should not allow the same party which holds the Presidency to secure a majority in Parliament,” the leaders added.

SJS is building castles and dreaming, they will never come to power again for sure. NPP is on the top now and forever.

If it happens, suppose SJS wins the General Elections it will be like Mythiri-RW Govt. and the consequences will lead our nation to crisis again. Never allow SJS to come to power.

Comments are Confused over SJS and SJB Thursday, 03 October 2024 04:23 AM
Btw, many of the comments below are confused with SJS and SJB! 2 separate parties which are equally bad as most are rejected and despised by the people.

They did not support the government in the past even when good things were done. They purposely created gatherings to help spread covid during Gota time.

When it comes to NPP, they must get 2/3 of 225 seats only then good laws will be passed, wasteful expenditure will be eliminated and a strong economy will be built. A strong opposition will not be good because they will use their parliamentary votes to derail corruption investigation and progress. SJB, UNP and SLPP has full of rogues, corrupt people

People SHOULD People allow the same party which holds the Presidency to secure a majority in Parliament, not thumping but workable majority. Especially under NPP Presidency which is definitely different from previous administrations. Trying a fast one to secure parliamentary majority. Will be a failed strategy.

Don’t Allow Previous Politicians To Advise or Join In Wednesday, 02 October 2024 07:05 PM
High time the same party should be allowed to hold leadership of both Parliament and Presidency. We saw the chaos between Ranil and Sirisena the recent past. Don’t need anyone who were part of previous regimes to join or advise the new governing team come 15th Nov onwards. AKD and his “A Team” should be able to manage with an another team of professionals advisors in various backgrounds the challenges the country is gonna face ahead.

As long as the listed old undesirables represent SJB, they will not go anywhere. The wallowing trough is too juicy for them to leave politics. What have any of you have done for the benefit of the children who go to bed hungry on a daily basis. Does any of you have a heart?

Have they got Sajith"s approval for this arrangement? Looks a bit strange as two of them who spoke about this are staunch supporters and also founder members of SJB. If this has been the decision of the entire party, such statement should have come out of Sajith's mouth.

There is not going to be a SJB government in Sri Lanka. Do not waste time and get your nominations list organized

That's exactly what people should allow. Unless everything will be a train wreck. This is regardless who won. If Sajith has won definitely they should get the majority as well. Otherwise it is very difficult in a country like Sri Lanka where politicians intentions are not what you would generally expect.

Excellent idea. SJB's thinking is very progressive. One thing that should never happen is allowing Ranil to lead the UNP. After Ranil leaves UNP, fold UNP into SJB and then give nominations only to clean UNP MPs to contest under SJB.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) seeks to position itself as a viable alternative, aligning with the progressive movement championed by the National People’s Power (NPP). However, given the growing national sentiment towards eradicating the entrenched, corrupt political systems, SJB faces an undeniable challenge: how can they credibly claim to be free from the same malpractices they once participated in? As the public rallies for a sweeping change, rejecting the old political culture of corruption and abuse, SJB must confront the bitter reality. They risk political irrelevance if they fail to distance themselves from their past and demonstrate a genuine commitment to reform. With the NPP’s popularity gaining significant momentum, SJB must prove, unequivocally, that they have reformed. This may be the only way for them to survive in a political landscape that increasingly demands accountability, transparency, and integrity.

This is a trick get more votes and keep their voters within their rank.As usual they will do what ever they could to topple the NPP government. People should be couscous of these tactics and must do every thing possible to enhance the vote ban of NPP to form parliament with 2/3 majority.

SJB Leader SP , must be aware that SJS Leaders are going to establish deals with RW and the group in time to come and make arrangements to out stated SP with the aim to the sit on his place even though it is very clear SJS could not secure majority in the Parliament at the general election on 14th November 24 . Majority people are very happy with the developments in all areas ( Security , Economy reducing prices of fuel and some essential items and dealing to take actions on Easter bombing and Central Bank Bond scam ) within the week of taking oaths of the President Anura Kumara Dissanayakae . Therefore Majority VOTERS want a very Powerful NPP government to change the system by brining a new constitution which could facilitate to change most of the current loop holes in the current constitution for the betterment of the current and future generations .

this country could be transformed into a new srilanka only by having a NPP controlled parliament as such entire country should vote for NPP -SJP ?UNP/SLPP should be chased away for at least 5 years

SJB is going in the wrong direction in its strategy of giving a good fight to the JVP. At this moment the SJB should not concentrate on the differences between them and the Cylinder instead should work with them. The main bottleneck is the President who is the Chairman of the UNP which the SJB wants out instead of that leave that obstacle to be dealt after the parliamentary elections as the UNP is agreeable of giving the SJB leader the PM position. With the support of the Cylinder definitely the SJB can outsmart the JVP as seen in the Presidential election. In everything there is a time and a place for everything so don't miss on this opportunity as the SJB will only have to be in limbo as opposition leader since he has not taken a pre-emptive decision. As the saying goes "United we stand divided we fall"!!!!!!!

Can someone in the SJS explain what prevented them from doing this under Ranil's presidency? People are not naive to believe this SJS crap. It's very obvious that Sajith is still hurting from the missed opportunity to be PM. It was offered to him on a platter by Ranil in the run up to the presidential election but his arrogance/pride got the better of him.

That's why Ranil said every ballot for sajith ultimately would be benefitted for AKD.

I don’t know what they are thinking. They had a decent chance to compete with the NPP by joining forces with the UNP. Now, they risk facing the same fate as in 2019, when many UNP voters chose not to vote. This time, those opposing the NPP may either split their votes or choose not to vote at all.

SJS has too many heads, but every one of them is a loser at his own level. Now they want to join THE BIG LOSER - Sajith. Don't we have any other good news?
