GMOA island-wide strike tomorrow

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today announced it would launch a 24-hour island-wide strike tomorrow.

GMOA, issuing a statement said it had decided to resort to strike action as the authorities failed to respond to their issues regarding several proposals of the Budget 2017.

The strike is scheduled to start from 8. 00 am tomorrow and to end at 8. 00 am next day.

Train the nurses to do the clinical job as the work of doctors are essentially prescribing medicines and it is not at all difficult.

Government should be strict with GMOA who try to interfere with government policies.It is a very sensible decision to contribute for one's own pension.

Normally a trade union would notice their grievances discuss with the Minister or relevant authority before resorting to strike action why not GMOA?

GMOA and GOVT should think sensibly. Doctors are not the lord's or God's of a country but politicians are not the real policy makers. when implementing policies should be pass with an independent panel of qualified professionals. politicians make it a mess and punishing innocent citizens through GMOA.

When letters/discussions to/with health minister, PM and President has no impact, you are left with very few options. Either resort to TUA or do nothing.

The GMOA doesn't realise the end of these strikes is going to be the loss of free education in this country, by making people eventually sick of this. They are holding the public hostage for their demands, which is unreasonable. The courts are for matters such as these.

When these doctors indulge in Strike action for their demand, which is not moral nor ethical. They should think of the people who paid for their free education, who also may be among those suffering. Government should bring immediate legislation to ban strike by doctors.

The majority of the Doctors & Lawyers in Sri Lanka dont pay income tax though they are entitled to do so.The GMOA requests its members to claim unlimited government over-time. Professionals should be honest. via DM Android App

Most of the peaple doesnt know why doctors are striking..even they dont know what is the present situation of the political and economical crisis of sri lanka.the dont need to think about it until they loos their daily bread. but onece they realize that ,no time is left to turn it back.sri lanka is in a situation,currupting every sections..only the educated portion can see the future.So they are shouting against them..to save the future of the country.you all will realize thet when u get stabed on ur back..
